Meddys Falafel Bowl – Gluten Free Mediterranean Food in Wichita KS

by Refreshing Bytes

Meddys falafel bowlA dish that has long been enjoyed for centuries, falafel is a popular street food in the Middle East and has made its way to the United States, becoming widely used by vegans as an alternative to meat-based street foods. Made from ground chickpeas, fava beans, and spices, and then deep-fried until golden brown, falafel gets its greenish hue from fresh parsley added into the mixture.

Many falafel recipes are naturally gluten free, and the falafel from Meddys is no exception. Infused with fresh garlic and onions, you can also taste the coriander and cumin in each bite. White pepper is a nice addition, perfectly balancing with black pepper to round out the aromatic experience. “White pepper tastes hotter than black but is less complex, with fewer flavor notes,” explains Mara Lorraine from Chowhound. Of course, high quality peppercorns have more floral, spice, and fruit notes than generic, which is why Meddys only uses the best quality ingredients in every dish.

The falafel are then laid on a bed of your favorite salad, either the fattoush with its sumac, cucumbers, mint, and red wine vinegar/olive oil dressing, or the Mediterranean salad, which is mixed with garbanzo beans, cucumber, and cherry tomato, and then tossed in homemade sweet balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Then, the entire dish is drizzled in tahini sauce and served with hummus and Spanish eggplant. Either salad you choose, this falafel bowl is sure to delight your tastebuds. Head on over to Meddys to try the best Mediterranean food in Wichita KS!
